Our Work For
Youth & Schools
Every Action Counts
No One’s Too Small to Make a Difference
Our approach to youth development is rooted in hope and empowerment. We believe in engaging young people early, giving them the tools and knowledge they need to become thoughtful stewards of the planet. Most importantly, we help them see that even the smallest actions can lead to big change — and that their voices and efforts truly matter.
Building Lasting Composting Solutions, Together
We partner with schools and care providers to design composting systems tailored to their unique needs, resources, and participants. Collaboration is at the heart of our approach. We work closely with composting leaders throughout the Wood River Valley—including Winn’s Compost, Clear Creek Disposal, BioCoTech Americas, the Environmental Resource Center, and local municipalities—to ensure each plan is as effective, efficient, and community-driven as possible. No two are the same, and we’re committed to creating sustainable, impactful systems that serve everyone involved—now and into the future.
Together, we’re returning food waste to the soil - and empowering the next generation to lead the way.
Planting Seeds & Rooting Trees
We support school garden and community orchard plantings to ensure all members of our community have access to spaces to plant seeds and cultivate crops. Collaborating with community partners including the Keystone Concept, City of Hailey, Blaine County School District, Arbor Day Foundation, and Cox Communications, we’ve led volunteer days to plant over 1,000 trees in Blaine County. Our work has provided capacity to various gardens throughout the community, serving youth and families. We are always looking for more partnerships to expand growing gardens throughout Blaine County.
Fueling the Future with Better School Food
We have reengaged in the school food work that was the original focus of the Local Food Alliance when founded in 2014. Timing is everything and we have an opportunity to support school district’s efforts to enhance the dining experience, encourage better eating habits, and increase the consumption of nutritious, delicious food sourced from regional farmers and ranchers. Stay tuned for the official launch of this collaboration in the upcoming school year!
