Farmers, Ranchers & Producers
To assist Idaho’s farmers, ranchers and producers, Future Roots provides patient, flexible capital to help their businesses start or grow. We boost local food production, make healthy food more available and accessible across southern Idaho, and encourage regenerative and sustainable practices that nurtures our land and resources. Let’s drive change together.

Procuring Local
Community Businesses & Restaurants
We harness the significant purchasing power of businesses, organizations, and institutions to strengthen our regional food system. Food choices happen beyond the dinner table — they are made by businesses, restaurants, schools, and institutions every day. Local procurement policies turn purchasing power into support for nearby farmers and food producers; provide fresher, more flavorful, more nutrient-rich food; limit food imports; and decrease dependence on a volatile supply of food. Communities all over the U.S. are making this shift, because each local purchase builds healthier individuals, stronger communities, and a more resilient food system.

Youth & SChools
In addition to what is modeled at home, schools have a powerful opportunity to shape our youth’s relationship to food. Whether you want to see reduced cafeteria waste, food grown on campus, or simply more locally sourced meals, we are committed to this transformation. Our team partners with both staff and students to facilitate composting programs, school gardens, and farm-to-school initiatives, all tailored to each school’s unique needs. Let’s grow healthy habits—together.
