Amy Mattias

Executive Director

Employment Background:
I joined the organization in 2017 as a Food System Strategist and became the Executive Director in 2023. In my tenure at Future Roots, I led the programmatic efforts to publish our annual Locally Grown Guide, launch our impact Fund, expand educational offerings, and build community partnerships. Prior to my time at Future Roots (formerly known as the Sun Valley Institute for Resilience), I worked for a plethora of independent food and farm businesses including Kraay’s Market & Garden (now Tara’s Market & Garden), NourishMe, Lava Lake Lamb, and Idaho’s Bounty. I have been an active board member at FARE Idaho, the Regenerative Agriculture Network of Idaho, and the Upper Big Wood River Grange.

Educational Background:
My undergraduate degree in Organizational Communications and Sociology laid a foundation of understanding of how people, groups and society at large function. I honed my educational expertise by pursuing a Master of Science in Sustainable Food Systems at Arizona State University, graduating with distinction in December 2024.

More about me:
I stepped into motherhood with the birth of my daughter in 2024. Becoming a mother has brought immense joy and a deepened sense of wonder, while further strengthening my desire to make the world a safer, healthier, and more regenerative place for future generations.
